Founder Jan-Willem comes from a family of furniture makers from Haarlem, The Netherlands. His grandfather was a furniture maker, and his father founded an interior company. From a very young age, in his spare time and holidays, Jan-Willem would help out in the company’s workshop. After University he fulfilled several positions in the Netherlands and abroad. By the end of 2020 he decided to leave his management position and start a new adventure.

When Jan-Willem and his wife expected their first child and wanted to decorate the nursery, they noticed something. Many children’s furniture looked similar, didn’t match their interior, and wasn’t made with sustainability as a top priority. They missed great designer furniture that was also planet-friendly. And this is how Frendly was born, to create kids furniture for interior lovers to match the taste of the modern, young parent. With a combination of Japandi and Wabi-sabi, warm, minimalistic, a nod to imperfection and from a green heart. Frendly makes beautiful interior items that feel timeless, are sustainable and made with care. For people and the planet.
